Bones The Radioactive Panthers in the Party – This week’s mystery is quite engaging, with a great B-Movie backdrop and plenty of believable suspects, sympathetic characters, and just downright unlikable ones.
Review and recap Bones The Radioactive Panthers in the Party
A body is thrown from an overpass and hits the car beneath it. The driver swerves and the car crashes into a tree causing a fire, burning the body.
The body belongs to one Ron Bergman, a business owner who sells mattresses. His employee Linda explains that Ron had stepped back from the business however in order to shoot a movie. The movie is a B-movie monster flick.
Suspects include Kirby, who know gets to step into the director’s chair that Ron is dead, David Faustino who is playing the lead in actor in the film and has a short temper, and an animal trainer whose panther attacked Ron on set.
There is also the owner of an amusement park that the movie shot at for a couple of days. The owner sent Ron threatening texts after being lied to about the nature of film.
We learn that originally Ron wrote a touching, coming of age story about a young boy. It was Faustino who kept pushing the movie to become an action film which finally caused Ron to snap.
Booth gives Aubrey the lead on the investigation. Though he keeps trying to tell him what he should do and gives him rotten advice. But Aubrey sticks to his guns and carries out the investigation as he sees fit. But afterwards, Booth admits that the bad advice was just a trick to really push him. There a job in LA for a full fledge supervisory special agent and he gave Aubrey the lead on the case in order to help him get the job. It seems Aubrey will be moving to LA.
It turns out that Ron had decided to give up his film dreams and head back to work at his business. His employee Linda killed him in a rage, angry that she was going to be number two at the business again.
The mystery itself is quite good as you really don’t know where it’s going to go. It’s also a lot of fun to see Hodgins enjoy everything that has to do with the B-movie and its plot.
It seems for its last season Bones is Booth and Brennan run into a familiar face every episode. This week it is Dr. Mayer, who announces she’s retried who has retired from anthropology because she lost her passion for it and is now studying prairie dogs.
Meanwhile Wendell is struggling to figure out what to write for his dissertation. Thinking about what Mayer said, Brennan suggests to Wendell that maybe he does not really want to be in the field of anthropology. He admits that he likes his job but not as much as Brennan or the other interns. He realizes that he needs to find something that he is more passionate about but worries about losing the team as they are like his family and Brennan assures him that they will always continue to be his family.
